世界中で観察される「高身長な人ほど得をする」
これまでの例で示してきたように、高身長の人ほどさまざまな面で得をしています。この傾向は世界中で観察されるため、人間にとって高い身長が価値あるものだと考えられるでしょう。
日本について見ると、2019年の厚生労働省の「国民健康・栄養調査」によれば、30代男性の平均身長は171.5cmで、女性の平均身長は158.2cmでした。これらの平均身長以上の場合、なんらかのメリットを享受している可能性があります。ただ、この分野の研究例は少なく、その実態がわかっていないというのが現状です。今後、さらなる研究の進捗が期待されます。
