私たちはシングルになることを避けられない｢子どもたちに結婚以外の選択肢について教育を｣社会学者が解説"世界的なシングルの時代"に必要な生きる力

提言④シングルについての学術研究により力を入れる

最後に、学術界はシングルの人たちについての知識を進歩させるという、非常に重要な役割を果たす。

今までは、学術界における研究のほとんどは、「結婚が成人の人生を支配するべきだ、当然支配する」という時代遅れの前提にもとづいていた。その結果、シングルの人たちは、学問においても、政策論文においても、めったにとり上げられず、仮にとり上げられたとしても間違った伝えられ方をしていた（※12）。

したがって、シングルの人たちがどうやってシングルの生活に適応するかについての今後の研究が当然おこなわれるべきだし、シングル研究分野の開拓も必要だ（※13）。幸福なシングル生活の心理的、社会的、それに身体的な分野の理解がさらに進めば、どうしたら、シングル生活を向上させることができるか、効果的なアドバイスをおこなうことも可能になるだろう。

シングルについての学術研究がさらに拡大されれば、急速に増えているシングルの人たちのウェルビーイング（健康と安心）を向上させる枠組みを作る行政関係者たちの助けにもなるだろう。

さらに、この分野における心理学的、社会学的、教育学的、経済学的、工学的な研究は、結婚している人たち、シングルの人たち両方の福祉を促進するための鍵となるだろう。

研究の内容は、シングルとカップルというグループ間の比較、シングルの解放と自己啓発の手段、シングルの市場ニーズと消費パターン、シングルのための交通サービス、地方自治体サービス向上の方法、ひとり暮らしに備えるための実践指導など、多岐に渡ることが考えられる。

このように、可能性は無限に広がっているのだ。
